Boards - Bricks, Steps, Knots & Insects (and something Sinister)

These boards were all made in the last few months (except the Butterfly board, which will still receive a border tonight) but for whatever reasons, I didn’t get around to posting any of them until now.

There are so many people to credit for the inspiration. Especially want to shout out to Steve (spalm) for his Mobius design and Sinister for the most ridiculously difficult glue up. :)

Making cutting boards seems to test my current abilities but each one that is completed (warts and all) really gives me personal satisfaction! And my friends and family think that I’ve discovered some long hidden talent! (Let’s please keep that to ourselves)!

Thanks for looking and your comments are always welcome!
Happy Thanksgiving to you all!!

Board1 – Bricks – Paudauk and Maple
Board2 – Steps – Walnut and Maple
Board3 – Mobius Loop – Oak, Walnut and Cherry
Board4 – Butterfly – Purple Heart and Maple
Board5 – Sinister – Maple, Cherry and Walnut

Love ‘em all but if I had to choose a favorite it would be the “brick” pattern. They’re all gorgeous and I think your friends & family are right about your talent but I don’t think it’s hidden! Really nice work Dennie!

Hey now these are a nice bunch of boards, but I have to admit, the bricks should be my favorite, being a retired bricklayer, but the Mobius one is driving me nuts My left eye keeps going to where my right one should be.

Nice work on the boards, I am with jerry in choosing a favorite followed closely by the butterfly!

They are all beautiful boards, but the butterfly board is the best…amazing.

Hey Dennie – what a great group! They all pop…..wow. The Padauk in those bricks is pretty intense for sure though….really nice batch…....Can’t wait to see what else you are brewing up…..keep em coming…

Steve, Rob, Bob, Ken, Jeff – I really appreciate all of you guys comments.

Rockbuster (nice moniker for a bricklayer) Blame Steve Palm for your eye issues but I completely understand!

Note to self: I really need to take better pictures and quit using my phone!

Great work, Dennie! All of them look awesome, but I’m kinda partial to the butterfly one. I’ve watched the mtm guy’s video before and it’s looks pretty complicated to get the alignment. Yours is grand!

Some nice precision work and great patterns and wood colours .
If I had to choose one it would be the butterfly but it would be a hard choice to make .

Is the brick board end grain or edge grain? I really like that one.
