Hi everyone!

Today, I share with you a project I’ve made some months ago for my mom. It’s a simple keychain made of birch which represents the territory of my country, Catalonia (more info at the bottom).

The project itself it’s quite simple to make. It’s just about prepare de small piece of lumber, cut it with coping saw or scrollsaw, sanded and stained. Finally I decide to apply some protection with spray laquer.

As the my other projects, here you have the making of video, in which you can also find some recommendations and tips to make it easier. I hope you enjoy it.

(As you maybe know, in Catalonia we’re facing a huge independence movement that crashes with the immobility of spanish government. If you don’t know what I’m talking about you can take a look here:http://www.cataloniavotes.eu/why-a-referendum/, or simply google it.)

Regards

I have spent this week in Catalonia and am sad to be leaving today. It’s now my favorite place outside of my home in USA. Nice people, nice food, nice culture, nice everything. I can see why your mother would want a reminder in her pocket, and a very nice one it is. :)

George Orwell dug Catalonia. Not sure that his unit did anything useful for Catalonia or history.

As I know, Orwell enlisted and was assigned as a militant for the defense of the Republic during the Spanish Civil War in 1936. As a militiaman I don’t think his contribution was significant. A very different thing was the impact of his book, called “Homage to Catalonia” (one of the most important in his literature) explaining his personal experience during the Spanish Civil War.
