Completed this work bench a few years back. The structure is made from 4×4 with 2×4’s supporting the top. The drawer cabinet box is painted 3/4 inch subfloor and the top is particle board. I use the top as an out feed for the table saw and being particle board it can be turned over and replaced as needed. By finishing the top at times with poly at the end of the can allows glues and other by products adhering. I keep screws, hardware, finishing accessories small clamps and bench type items close at hand.

Chip, Welcome to the LumberJocks’ community.

Your ‘Work Bench’ / assembly table looks like a definite step saver.
Very well thought-out and executed.

Did you do any mortise and tenons on the 4×4 to attach them to the base? It looks like a USER, which is a good thing by me.

That is a very nice, well thought out workbench. The rest of your shop built stuff looks great too. How about a shop tour? I like the two tone color scheme, which just happens to be close to the same colors that I want to paint my shop built tables and benches. You have a shop to be proud of.

Thank You all for the supportive comments. I’m glad to happen onto the LJ website as it is very informative and some great woodworking hobbyists.

I have to explain the two tone color. When I started building items for the shop I had the better part of gallon of blue paint left over from a shelving project for our sons 4th or 5th grade class room. Not wanting to waist the paint I decided this would be the color of the cabinets.

Thanks for looking
