I am always on the look out for a great piece of furniture, why, not sure really, I guess its kinda like a feeling ya go with. Anyway I came across this table at a yard sale one afternoon and it was covered with a faux leather top, stapled all around. I think I paid $2 for a solid coffee table, I was over joyed.
When I got home I immediately removed the covering to see what was underneath, and I was surprised when I found such beautiful Curly Maple! There were holes left open that were used to attach the base frame and was left unfinished. Now, I could have made some taper plugs to fill the holes, but instead I chose to glue on these little solid wood appliques.
After looking at it for a bit I thought that perhaps I could resell this little table better if I added a wood burned eagle, so away I went with the woodburner in hand and came out with something that rather looked like the bird I was looking for, phew!
I guess the lesson in that project is that I didn’t always need to start from scratch, that sometimes a finished piece can be just the right project at the time.
Anyway, it didn’t take long before this Eagle Table found a new home. : )
