We had an Ikea bunk bed that our kids out grew and it wasn’t worth selling – so suddenly I had a wealth of cheap pine. I went to work with some 1/2” Plywood and that Pine and made this handy Portable Miter Saw Station. I borrowed the plans from a magazine and loosely followed them. I did have to improvise with the material I had, but it works great!
The wings are strong enough to support Heavy 4×4 and the wings enable support out almost 4’ on each side of the saw. It is solid enough to handle heavy material, but once folded up it is easy enough to move and store.
The nobs turn into T-Nuts and with washers they turn down to where just snug equals plenty of support that holds everything in place.
With a quick clamp I can put in a stop block and thus enable a lot of quick cuts at the same length. This is something I’ve needed for a long time and now I can adjust the set up to start working on face-frames for some wall cabinets.
