The Spider Box

Here’s another box that has been in the works for way to long, but is finally finished. It’s a box made from cherry with maple miter keys. The lid is inlaid with spalted oak from the burn pile with a pewter web and spider inlaid with fine silver.

Thanks for taking a look.

Edit: I know the color is all over the place in the pictures. The first picture is truest to the real color. I am seeking knowledge on light for photography as I type this. ;)

Bit late for Halloween though ;) Nice job on the silver inlay!

Thank you. It would probably sell quicker if I had finished it by Halloween, but I don’t mind if this one sits around for a while.

Thanks for the link. That’s exactly what I need and I just happen to have some plywood and old lamps laying around.

Joey, I think it must be illegal in six or seven states to have this much fun making a box. The spider is a nice touch. This box has several nice ideas in it: the inlay, the silver, the carving, the general nice choice of wood. Thanks for sharing.

This was one of those unplanned boxes. I started off by splitting the oak. Once I had it inlaid, I thought to myself, in that Bob Ross voice that still lives in my head from time to time, that a happy little spider would like to live here. LOL.
