I finished building this lamp on November of 2014. The plans/idea came from a Popular Woodworking article. The original was made using White Oak for the frame and Formica for the panels. Mine is made using Cherry and a Japanese decorative paper (http://www.papersource.com/item/Yuzen-Blue-Plum-Blossoms-Fine-Paper/44372850.html). To get consistent grain match, I milled all the parts from one piece of 8-quarter cherry. Milling took longer then expected but it was worth it.
