Stripped out those nasty wire shelves and replaced them with 3/4” floor grade plywood. I was actually able to add two more shelves affording much more storage space. The countertop is made from salvaged chestnut table leaves…they were too warped to use as leaves so I ripped them flat and reglued into this countertop. Looks nice loaded with canned goods and she loves it! And then I had to hide the whole thing behind a bifold door. And as a bonus, I traded off the wire shelves for even more of those 150y/o shutters I used in previous projects!
