My wife Julia has collected cookbooks for decades. She now has around 1000 cookbooks in her collection. Our daughter Andrea is not only following her Mom’s footsteps with collecting cookbooks, but she and her husband also love wine like we do.

So for Andrea’s birthday last week, I built her (and installed) this very simple cookbook case/wine rack. Julia bought the wine cooler. Andrea not only has quick access to her cookbooks, but also to 40 bottles of wine.

This piece of furniture was built to match her existing built-ins to the best of my ability. I had a lot of problems locating the 2.5 inch oak cove molding that runs underneath the perimeter of the top shelf, so I decided to make my own on m table saw. It really wasn’t all that difficult once I built the jig for my saw.

I’m now whipping up an oak pedestal to put under the fridge to boost it up just a little…making it easier to access the nice, cold wine. :)
