it’s not actually made of wood but I guess you could count this as a completed project. Actually two!

These are my first trys at turning acrylic. It’s is actually very easy and the acrylic really shines!

I sanded through the grits from 220, 320, 400, 600 then wet sanded with a 1200 sanding pad. I used Brasso (liquid) to polish it and boy oh boy it really works well! No need for special acrylic polish.

The first one is for my wife. It’s a Princeton pen kit from Woodcraft. The second is for my 12 yo son. It is a PSI bolt action pen kit.

I hope that you are inspired to try turning some acrylic for yourself.

Thanks for looking!

Opps! I should have added that I didn’t actually turn the bolt action pen, my 12 yo son did. I did help when turning the ends next to the bushings and I did the final polish on the blank but he did 90% of it. I didn’t want to get the credit since he did it!

Great to see you out here again Brett, I have missed seeing your projects!!!

Your son did a fantastic job and let him know for us. I like how the gift for your wife turned out.

Pick your self up one of the found wood blanks to turn. I like to turn them. Its fun with the wood and acrylic together. You do need to do a CA finish on the whole thing to finish off the wood.

Thanks for sharing!
