Project Information
A friend brought me some leftover Walnut from a floor that was installed in his house. I was not really sure what to do with it but it was some beautiful wood. I planed it down to get rid of the grooves that are in the bottom side and then cut it in strips and then laid it vertical with some Maple strips between. The busy board is about 15" square and about 1 1/4" thick the other board is about 5/8" thick and 13"x15". The thick board is for the gentleman that gave me the Walnut and the other board is for use in a travel trailer. I put 4 coats of beeswax and mineral oil mixture on the boards. Smooth as silk and smell quite nice as well. I purchased a branding iron and used it for the first time. Had to heat it with a butane torch. Overall I am pleased with these and plan on making a couple more with some different types of wood.
