Ideas. Where do they come from? In this case, I was standing in the checkout line of the local supermarket. Instead of my usual cursory glances at the magazine rack, it being Christmas time, I glanced for the third time that week at a small display of envelopes full of seasonal “patterns”. They were templates for spraying “snow” images on your windows. Broke down and bought them, setting me back a whole $1.29, took them home and found them interesting but not immediately useful. A few years later I happened upon them again and decided to develop a few of them into actual scroll saw designs, fleshing them out, so to speak. These girls stay out year round, but when it comes time to drag out all the holiday stuff, I’ll post up some of the others. They were made from a small scrap of bird’s eye Maple I had kicking around….. Michael C.

what a great source for patterns!
that’s thick wood for scroll saws—for me anyway… I find it way too hard to work with :(
