This paddle was ordered by a wonderful customer from Ithaca, New York. She gave it to a co-worker as a “Goodbye Gift”. From what I understand, he is leaving to run Hopshire Farm and Brewery in Freeville, NY.

I picked some very old cherry to use for this paddle as it’s primarily going to not be actually used in the brewing process, but hanging on a wall as a piece of art in his brewery.

This paddle measures around 55 inches long and is a very solid, one inch thick.

I used white oak for the hangers, both for the contrast as well as the strength of the oak.

The hop flowers were cut out using my scroll saw and the carvings were done with my CNC Router.

While I could have used any finish I wanted for this paddle, I stuck with food-grade mineral oil as that is what I am comfortable using on these things.

I wish I could see this paddle in about a year from now when it darkens and gets even cooler looking!

Cheers!

A lovely going away gift and very well done. That cherry is really going to ‘color’ nicely and contrast with the oak hangers. Is your CNC home built?

Ron,

My CNC is an Oliver 1315 and I couldn’t operate my business without it anymore. Fantastic tool.

Cheers!

I like em. They go nicely with the paddle.

Nice.
I am a little late to the party – we were out camping :)

This is a wonderful piece. Well done with the carving and scroll work. Lovely wood too.
