This is a maple and cherry low angle shoulder plane i made. I need to make a new wedge to put more pressure on the blade. I used the same 10” saw blade as my high angle shoulder as a donor for this plane.

Nice !I would be interested in how you cut out the blade and what kind of saw blade you used for that .

How well does blade steel hold an edge? He aptly looks like a little beaver.

I have not used it enough to be able to gauge how long the edge will last. I used an abrasive disk on a dremel tool. Plan on dedicating some time to that process. It was fairly time consuming. I would recommend making the iron longer than the one I made it is extremely hard to adjust the plane. I will be making another iron with a longer tail to make for easier adjustment.

This is saw blade that has yielded the 2 plane irons I have made. Hope this helps out anyone who can use this idea.
