Since I’d never turned a bowl before, I needed some practice before tackling the main task . I couldn’t afford a mishap with all the prep involved.

There’s a few Aspen ones, one is Birch, the simple segmented one is Pine, and so is the flatware.

Looks like you did well. Soft woods can be the most difficult to turn without a lot of end grain tearing.

Looks real good for a first go. My first bowl was shallow, chunky, thick walled with a lot of torn grain. I like your shapes and wall thickness. I think you’re ready for the hard woods. Keep it up.
