i turned these mallet to test a glued up mallet head design I had seen before. I was also looking for a project to make use of some 4” square pieces of maple and some 12” long 8/4 red oak That was too good to burn. These may become christmas gifts. Glue-up, turning and finishing took less than 2 hours. I used bees wax as a friction polish for the finish.

Those look nice enough to sell – how much do you think you’d charge for them?

Great job, these always remind me of a choir bell

To cover time and material I would probably need to get $30-$40. I think that is too much for a mallet though. I did these more as an experiment and to get in a little practice. I used my scrub plane to knock the corners off before I started turning them.
