So it turned out to be a tray.

I am new to woodworking. This is the second thing I ever made. My wife decided to go back to school. So I decided I would make her a laptop stand/lap table type thing. However I did not yet trust my woodworking skills to make something for everyday use in that manner. So I decided to practice my skills first by learning how to make a spline jig, and see how good these joints would be for her stand thing. One thing lead to another and I made this tray we can use for something I guess?... On the pluss side I know it will work. If I ever get around to making it for her.
It’s made of walnut and some other hard wood I don’t know what kind. The handles are frome Home Depot.

Very nice! Looks great. It is worlds beyond my capability at my second project! Thanks for sharing, and keep at it!

I feel like the grain is responsible for this looking good. Every step of the way I was wondering what my next step would be or if I was about to wreck it. Especially with th ghetto spline jig I made.

I will try to dig up a picture of my first spline jig. It was awful but somehow did the job. Great work. keep it up and keep posting.
