First couple of attempts at turning containers/lids

Second and third attempts at turning containers with lids (the poplar is the second try, red oak is the third). I gave away the first one before I could get pictures. My bad :P. I’m still getting used to getting the lid JUUUUST right, but I’m getting better every time! Oil and wax finish on the red oak, nothing on the poplar (meh).

Evan, I think you will be turning out some really nice Lidded Boxes if these are anything to go by. The Grain Orientation looks right too. Try experimenting with different timbers and perhaps a rounded lid?
