Earlier this week, we had to have our dog put to sleep. That afternoon my wife and I were looking at pictures of him and she suggested that I make a picture frame. I was all set to use walnut and some curly maple that I had set aside to make something really impressive, but the more I thought about it, the less I thought it fit his personality. I decided something simpler would be more appropriate for an old shaggy dog who just wanted to run in the woods and nap by the fire.

The frame is cherry and the splines are some mystery wood from the scrap bin. Finish is BLO and it will get wax in a couple of days. The last pic is the simple miter sled I built to get the corners tight.

Nice tribute to your dog to make a hand made frame for his picture. Sorry for your loss.

They become such a big part of our lives. Your frame is a very nice tribute-especially picking out wood that matches his personality.

Thanks for sharing.
