I built the wine rack – side table to go under the mirror previously posted. The table is purpleheart and hard maple. It is my second attempt at hand cut dovetalls. I decided to invert the handle on the drawer – seemed to be in line with the inversion of color of the pieces. There is a carving of a maritini glass, bottle of wine and grapes on the bottom shelf. (not complete) I test carved the bottle and grapes but still testing the maritini glass!

Excellent work!
It’s good to keep your wine right next to the door so you can grab a bottle as soon as you walk in. <g>

OH, that’s sweet looking!
I’ll second what Charlie said, but add not so jokingly, that it makes it easier to grab a bottle as a last minute thing if going to visit a friend for dinner.

What a great design. The Purple Heart is a great selection and goes perfectly with the wines. I have worked with Purple Heart and found it challenging to work with even with the small items I make. You have done a great job in all aspect of you’re project.
Did you design the wine rack or purchase the drawings. If you pruchased the drawing could you tell me where. This would look great in any home.

Lovely piece! I suppose the purpleheart tells me you favor red wines… but then again the maple says white… Very nice piece and I love the inverted handle and the contrast between the purpleheart and maple that shows in your dovetails. Very nice project. Kudos! I like the fact that I can still see the knife line from your dovetail layout work too. It says “handcut.”

Gorgeous piece, first off. Absolutely stunning. The combination of purpleheart and maple is one of my favorites. Have you guys seen the solid purpleheart bench Brandon Pierce displayed on the finewoodworking.com gallery some time ago? Imagine the extra tool sharpening needed to complete that project?
