This I did not make, Stefano and Mark at the Aviano Wood Skills center created this one for our retiring Command Chief. It turned out so well, I asked to post it here. His retirement flag was mounted after the ceremony. The wood is sapele with maple inlays.

Sapele is my favorite species hands down, especially when I come across a nice figured piece. I like this box because it’s so neatly done; nice clean edges and transitions.

What type of finish did they use?

AlBCuttnWud, is a spray in poly wax blend. I’m not sure what it’s called in the
US but it seems to give a nice quick finish
