Geometry WHAT???

First and foremost, this is the first time I used geometry in oh…....... at least a decade??? Nothing too special about this guy, except that this is the piece of wood that cracked my face shield. I figured if I gave up on it then the wood wins! I’m pretty happy to say I put that piece of wood back in its place. It holds three tealight candles, I was considering boring another hole in the very center so a larger candle could be used in lieu of the small ones, but I kind of like how it turned out. They all burn for about 5-6 hours and just burn themselves out. Not too bad of a timer if I say so myself. I finished it with a wax/mineral oil mixture – it kind of turned the wood green, but I used a post of treated lumber so I guess I can’t complain too much. Besides, the color doesn’t bother me all that much anymore.

This gave me an idea, wood flash light? Possible? Gut a mag light, turn some pieces on the lathe reinstall the pieces from the mag light.

THAT IS AN AWESOME IDEA!!!!!!!!!!! I have no idea how to go about doing it, but it at the very least a thin later of wood around the handle would be freakin’ sweet! Can you do it? I’d love to see the result!

I am not very experienced turner but could be worth a try. If you try it let me know, or if someone else does let both of us know! I see pictures on Google so I guess someone has done it before. Also a small tutorial for just the grip

Very nice. That is a hefty piece of wood, I can see that it could have done some serious damage…...but you tamed it and made it into a thing of beauty.
