This is my first try at some really nice exotic wood. Padauk is nice to work with, hard and turns nice. I wish it was cheaper and easier to find around here. I sanded this in steps to 600 grit and applied a wax finish applied with 0000 steal wood. It came out as smooth as a baby’s behind. I will use this wood more often if I can find a cheaper supplier. thanks for looking

Looks great. I know nothing about bowl turning, but can you regularly eat out of a bowl like this (hot soups, cold cereals, rice etc)?

I have no idea if you can use them daily but I would think so if finished properly. Padauk would be a good choice as it is very hard.

Nice! I’ve only used a lathe once and loved it. Always amazed at what you can do with one.

Have your say...
