This project was designed to sit by a doorway. The seat is to put your boots on and there is plenty of room underneath to place shoes. There is a single drawer for keys wallets and whatnot. I added a small wine rack just because and a shelf to put magazines and mail. The cabinet is made from highly figured Bubinga and the seat is from 8/4 Bubinga with Maple dowels and Bubinga wedges. The stand is made from Sugar Maple and the single knob is from Horton Brass. Virtually all the joinery was done with a Domino just because I wanted to see how fast i could build this project. Finished with Maloof oil.

I like it! How’d you carve the seat?

Very nice design, a little bit of several functions. Great carving on the seat.

siavosh- the seat is coopered with 3 boards. I did some bandsawing on the middle board. Then glued the seat up. Then I used an angle grinder with a Kutzall head to do the rough shaping and a Rotex sander with 24 grit to finish the shaping.

Oldtool- as always thank you for the kind words!

I love the seat! Bubinga was a great choice.

Waaaaay too nice for putting boots on. Kind of a ‘50’s design?
This really works – nice job!

I see the satellite receiver on top but I just don’t see the screen … Well, with a comfy seat and a bottle of wine, I just ‘figgered’ there ‘otta’ be a TV somewhere …

Quite unique and well done, the seat is inviting …
