I made this bunk bed for my Grand Daughters. All the rails are mortise and tenon. The lower panel section is a pull out trundle and all the steps have drawers.

I agree with Steve completely.

Bunk beds seem to be in now a days.
I made one for my grandson at my daughters house.
I have one at my house for my grandson and granddaughter when they stay here.

If you don’t have one you probably don’t realize what everybody who does own one knows.
They are a real pain to try to make the beds. A back ache and bumped head making the bottom one and next to impossible to reach to make the top one.
Bed linen will basically get “thrown” in place after the thrill of the new bed wears off.

If I was going to make another one, I would make a removable or break-down rail for the top bunk. One that could slip into brackets for safety when up and could easily be taken off to make the top bed. A bed that could easily be “rolled” away from the wall to get to the back side would be a plus too.

Again Jim, yours looks professionally made and the drawers for storage is a huge plus. Looking forward to more of your projects posted…........................

I think you get an A+ for that one Jim.
I’m sure the granddaughters will love it.
I will look forward to seeing more, Todd

Beauty job Jim – both design and execution. There will be some laughing and late night conversations in those beds. Well done.

I did a bed like that they sure look nice when they all done. The real chore for me was to design it to be taken apart and put back together easily. Great job.

That’s a fantastic project. Great design and utilization of space. Looks real cozy to snuggle up in.
