Master Bath Remodel

Project by RoyBoy posted 960 days ago 1222 views 11 times favorited 30 comments Add to Favorites Watch

I gutted my master bath and resized it as well.

Before: It was a very cramped 5’x7’ with a 30” square shower of which I could hardly even take a good picture of it.

After: Spacious 8’x10’, with oak trim/base/cap, wainscot walls, slate floors and tile shower with stone and glass doors.

Vanity and Cabinet: Solid Cherry, frosted glass vessel, oiled bronze faucet and pulls
Finish: Tung Oil and Poly

Great floor, just did a ceramic tile counter-top myself. Beautiful cabinet. I always did like cherry wood on cabinets! Great job.

Well done, and an inspiration for bathrooms to come.
Love the cabinets and the colors compliment the woodwork so well. I’m glad I got to see that.

Thanks Christina,

I checked out your website and carvings, you are very talented – I love your pieces! Did you do the paintings as well, or are those things found in your store/shop?

Thanks Todd! Cherry is my favorite (right now anyway) ;)

I’m about to begin on the 2nd half of the house remodel to an open floor plan. Building all the kitchen cabinetry, built-in in dining room, built-in cabinet for LCD TV and components, etc. Hope to have it all done for Thanksgiving dinner at my place this year!

It was a labor of love for sure – and now that I’m finally moved back into the master bed/bath, I can move on to the rest of the house! :)

Thanks much!

Thanks for the comment Brian,
I have about 150 different artists represented in my gallery from all over the US, but the carvings, painted or not, are my doing on the page my profile is linked to.

I just wish I had the woodworking skills that you guys have.

Really nice. Not only did you make great cabinets, your overall design is excellent. I like especially the arch under the towel cabinet, and the fact that you integrated the crown of the cabinet with the crown moulding.

Hey Brian,

Just cruising around checking people’s projects out. Beautiful bathroom. Nice job. I showed my wife the sink counter because that’s what I have to do in our kitchenette down stairs. I guess I should get busy with that, but I am too busy building shop furniture right now. Again, nice job.

Very stylish. I like the craftsman look too. Did you build the vanity or buy it?

Very nice work and excellent decor choices – glad you posted yours before I post mine in about a week. Lucky you being able to expand the space – no room for us to do that as much as we wanted to.

I realize it’s been a while since you posted this project. How is the cherry top holding up? What did you use to finish it? Thanks.

Its holding up perfectly… not a sign of wear. I used 3 coats of Spar urethane. I’ve read since, in several magazines, that’s not necessarily the best to use for this application, but its worked fine so far. Thanks!
