Lady from church wanted a bunk bed for her son for a birthday gift. But wanted a little more storage. The original plan was to stain everything but after the bed was stained and the steps I knew it would be way to dark so I asked what her sons favorite color and said trust me. Ended up spraying the drawer fronts orange, sanding down 50% of them, stained over for that rustic boy look, then spraying a satin clear coat. Really set the bed off! this was such a fun project that I got to plan for 3 weeks so there wasn’t a single mistake the whole time, which is very uncommon in my shop! hope you like it. starting the second one in a week! thanks for looking!

Nice looking bed… Does the top bunk just rest on the rails or do you have them secured?

thanks everyone. top bed is just resting on the rails. it all ties in with the wall you see behind that stairs. I used Rockwell hardware for the bed rails. took me a few shots to get the right support for the bottom bed because there are two roll out drawers underneath so not much room for supports. but I ran 2×2s across every couple feet. then come to find out they are using a flimsy mattress so I had to throw a piece of 3/4 inch ply on top of that.
