This is a bonus box I made for the box swap. It almost didn’t happen! I found a tool to include as a gift and needed something to put it in. What better for a wood worker to do then to make a small box. I hit the shop and began. That’s when the problems began. The 45’s decided to give me fit, the size didn’t work out, came out to small after I fixed the 45’s. I got so frustrated I threw it in the scrap bin and gave up. With no time left for making a new one prior to mailing I was stuck. I even said “what kind of wood worker am I that I can’t make a simple box”. The next day I dug it out of the scrap bin for another look. That’s when I experimented with the corners. It worked! I quickly sanded and assembled it and made a base and lid and put on hinges. I was even able to get a coat of red oak stain and two coats of wipe on. Just in time to mail! In all this box was a two hour project from cutting to staining and felt! I was really happy with this new design and may use it in future boxes.
