Made this for my wife for her Birthday, and realized I never posted it. I made a template for this “shape” a while back, and really like it. This one is curly maple in the center, with walnut on the outer edges. Also has some cherry and maple “pin stripes.” finish is just mineral oil.

Lovely work.

How does she use it? I’ve thought about adding handholds to boards like this, but have never done it. Does she use them? Do they help make the board more stable?

Thanks,

Thanks Henry! Honestly? Its sits on the mantle in the kitchen as a decoration :) I thought she might use it for cheese and crackers, etc. But it looks nice there too. I do like the hand holds though – just from carrying it around as I was finishing it, etc., it felt “right” in your hands. I’m sure it would be fine without them, but I thought the handles looked nice too – particularly with the rounded ends.

Well done simple lines make this really stand out. Great wood choice as well.

Nice an neat, good clean lines nice contrast, Curly Maple and Walnut make a good marriage.
