This puzzle box was built using a pre-existing wood box that was sourced from ebay, sure I could make it myself but the one thing I love about starting with a box already made is that I get to start right away on the mechanism.
Made from Bird’s Eye Maple and walnut. This particular design requires the user to remove the one foot that is held on by a Neo Magnet and use it as a tool to move internal parts to an alignment point where the lid will open.
I find great amusement in watching the guys at work attempt to open these puzzling creations and eventually they do, sure breaks up the monotony of a midnight shift, lol.
Except for the magnets and wood feet (bulk from craft store, actually 3/4” wood plugs turned upside down) everything from this project was sourced from my offcut bins in the shop.
