It has been so long since i have posted anything! This is the first in a Catch-up series of what I have been up to. A friend of mine at work approached me about building this project for him- my first commissioned project! I figured it would take 4-5 hours, but ended up taking more as i had to build a spline jig (which I don’t love) and finishing took a bit longer than i thought originally.
Its funny how it harder to let small things go when you are getting paid for the work… and I have a pretty severe case of self-criticism as it is!
This is the fist time i have talked a design and dimensions through with someone etc. The side is intended to be somewhat teardrop shape, with an integral foot created from the stepped round over underneath. Especially where some of the design needed to change before the end I was a bit worried, but he seemed to really like it.
The Bubinga didn’t show quite as red as I had hoped, but the colors seem to be a good match anyway. I will update with a pic of the sand nicely raked and little rocks for the “islands” but he is having a difficult time finding a sand rake of appropriate size. I may end up just building one!
Let me know what you think!
