A friend of mine asked for a box. No particular needs or requests…just a box. The only condition was that he wanted something original. I kind of made this up as I went along. It sort of ended up looking like a box you’d keep someone’s ashes in. But my friend and I are happy with it, so that’s all that matters.
The four sides of the box are 3/4” Sapele joined with through dovetails. I then routed out for the inlay, which is Zebrawood trimmed with Maple and Walnut. The bottom and top are custom-milled 3/4” Sapele frame and panel construction, where the Maple is tongue’d into a groove in the Sapele. I decided to go with a lift-off top instead of hinges.
Thanks for looking!
