Live Edge Coat Rack

I made this live edge coat rack using a red cedar board. It’s amazing how dull cedar looks until you put a finish on it. I tilted my bandsaw table at an angle to cut the ends so they would blend in with the natural edge. I also concealed the mounting holes underneath the coat hooks.

If I hadn’t watched you do it, I would have sworn the sides were natural edges too…

I too would like to comment on tipping your saw to cut the edges. I woulld have never thought of that and it makes all the difference. (perhaps you could have used that technique on the bottom edge as well???)

Looks great Steve. I made a few of these for an awkward corner in my house, but I’m glad you thought to tilt the bandsaw table… that makes a huge difference.

This is a great way to find use for some of those beat up boards that are too small for anything else. watching you spray the cedar- its pretty crazy how much a little poly can make it pop
