This was a super crazy puzzle to build.
First you should know the 4D stands for the ‘Four Directions”, N, E,W,S
There were four customers.
Each one representing each of the directions.
Each of the four units came with codes written in ancient heiroglyphs that only one of the others would have the codex for. Communication between them was neccessary-ish, ...you can google just about anything these days, lol.
The puzzle came apart into three different layers, all three layers controled by the arrows styled dials on the four sides. Codes related to data to be entered into the dial for the separation of the layers of the pyramid.
Much deception and trickery built in.
The challenging concept with this design as the builder was how to lock a layer above as well as a layer below the main layer from a single mechanical lock.
Made from Spalted Maple, Pau Amarello, Walnut, Lacewood and Makore
Probably as tough to build as it was to solve, lol.
