This is a simple turning of northern hard maple. (acer saccarum). The figure is curly or tiger and is indigenous to our area. The piece took approximately one hour to complete as an anniversary gift for friends. The only adornment is an ebonized rim. This was done by burning the rim at high speed with steel wool. The finish is mineral oil.
