The box is made of purple heart and maple with a burl veneer on top. I now have to make six more each with a different type of wood for the grand daughters by Christmas.

Awesome box woodmaster! I knew some beautiful boxes would come from this swap. Great job! Making six more is going to keep you busy.

nice looking box. The Splines look long enough to go through the inside of the box- do they?

On a couple of corners I had them barely go through. The purpleheart is approx. 7/8 thick and I cut the splines on a 45 degree angle.
