This item belongs to my cat, “Perky,” who is 16 years old and needs it to get into the master bedroom bed. She is not as spry as she used to be, and was not all that spry to begin with.

The stand is MDF, with primer and several coats of egg-shell blue satin spray (from a can) as a final finish. Cuts were made with a table saw and miter saw, with the curve cuts done with a band saw. Edge rounding was done with a router. The thing is glued together, but countersunk screws pulled things together before the glue set. Wood filler was put over the countersink recesses and the thing was sanded smooth prior to painting. Rubber feet on the bottom keep it from dinging the wood floor. The rear edges of the side panels actually should have been extended further back, since once Perky goes to kitty heaven my wife would maybe like to use it as a kitchen step stool. Unfortunately, the lack of extension towards the rear makes it a bit too unstable for that. We will save it for the next cat when it gets old. Heck, we have one right now who is 13, so she will be elligible in a few years.

That’s a good build I how perky appreciates it.
