This started when I had made a 8.5 X 11 frame for my wife. I found a really cool card she got from her old school nursing job. All the kids in the school signed it and gave it to her. I thought she would love to see it framed. I left it out and she tossed it.
So I’m sitting with this 8.5 X 11 frame and nothing to frame. She said “Why not frame this little card Victoria gave me when she was in second grade. In fact, could you do this little painting she made in 5th grade as well?”
Sure enough…. I got to working.
While I was at it, I pulled out an abstract painting from my sister. I then proceeded to tear through our memorabilia for something 8.5 X 11. We had NOTHING!
While I was working on the doghouse, Victoria came out to help. That lasted about 15 minutes. She got board then started doing her own thing. With a few off cuts, some leaves and dog house paint, she created a little design on my broken down beat up fence. I had an idea. “Victoria, take some pictures of your art for me.”
Yep – I had my 8.5 X 11.
I got this wood from the Rockler “Shorts” sale a few months. I really am not sure what it is but my guess is cherry. I like the way it looks. In fact I decided to use the “Bad” parts of the wood. When I find a knot I usually find some curl.
Since the wood came in a 2X4 size, I was able to make some quarter sawn frames with a little book matching,
My friends – as always, Thanks for looking.
