What is that strip just above the door? Is it maple but finifhed differently?

Nice looking wine cabinet!

The strip at the top looks like a row of 13 corks to me. Nice touch! Was there anything special about those particular corks or was it just a random selection?

Its a row of wine bottle corks. I’m not a drunk or anything but I’ve seen a couple of these things before.
