I had a request for a candle holder with no oil, finish or stain. It is also the first time I used my jaw chuck on my lathe. Anyone know what kind of wood this is? I forgot to check :/ I love the grain though.

Looks pretty nice, is it some kind of pine?

I’m not sure. I saw it in Lowe’s and just grabbed it. It seemed like a one-of-a-kind on a shelf of nightmarish posts. I was thinking it was some kind of pine though too.

Yup, looks like pine or fir. I always have trouble sanding that stuff on the lathe since the light part of the rings is so much softer than the dark part. it looks nice!

That grain is beautiful.
