This is a custom made toddler bunk bed I made for my niece. The biggest lesson I took away from this project? The customer is always right. The customer is always right, even when they want to paint over the beautiful wood instead of staining it.

The top of the rail on the top bunk of this bed is about where the bottom of a traditional top bunk would be. Instead of a ladder I build stairs and caged in a little bit of the side so they don’t stumble into the second step and fall. This bed is going to twin boys, and when they grow out of the mattresses, I will put a wood steering wheel on top or something, and put carpet on the bunks instead of crib mattresses. It was a fun project, but next time I’m staining it :)

Nieces are as bad as daughters and grand daughters…they’re professionals at snookering you.

Awesome job.
