Made this thing out of cheap wood from Lowe’s :). Pretty happy with the result. It works well with my $18 set of chisels! (I have upgraded my tools considerably since then)

I have that same set or turning tools from Horrible Freight – although I sprung for the $55 set with the bigger/better handles. Having just got into turning, I didn’t want to drop $180 on the starter set of tools from Woodcraft until I was certain that I was going to like it.

I hear ya, that set only set me back about $20 hahaha. On the bright side, the metal is so cheap that I’m officially a pro at sharpening them now! I pretty much have to go back to the grinder every other project.

At the top of the shelf, better watch the vibrations….they could vibrate off the shelf….

Do you wear a hard hat whilst lathing?

Actually seen that vibration thing happen…..a router trimming countertop in the kitchen caused some porcelain figures to drop off a shelf (poorly installed, downslope) in the room next door. Whoda thunk about that!

Oh yes, I’m always wearing my face shield. That thing has so many scratches in it there is no way I’ll turn without it.

Thanks for the tip on the shelves!
