Ships Radar dome ,bought for $50 off ‘Trade Me’ ex local fishing trawler.
Made up a frame of 3×2 and 4×2” to support the dome , Double laminated the support posts .was great to use my new construction nailing gun ,65mm and 90mm wire twist nails.
... there are two spring loaded hatches under it,probably for access to check the sweep of the radar boom.
A ladder to get up into it.
A seat to sit on ,and periscope to see out ,with a treasure box for ,what else, treasures !
The seat and the box ,were an acrobatic act to get up into the Dome ,i really thought i had made them too big to fit in through the base hatch, but some sanding with my trusty disc sander (angle grinder)sorted that oversight out !
.. the other head ache was the floor it had to be made in sections and fitted in place but I had moved to a more sedate job and had put weight on, and had to get a slim mate ,to finish the fit out !
The round windows are from ,front loading washing machines, one of them fitted to open the other securely bolted shut .
Ventilation was a problem with excessive heat build up,but solved that with the hole in the top for the periscope.
