Cypress swing photos, I’ve made four of these and sold all four. I learned a ton and refined the swing with each one. The best look and easier to build was switching from drilling and face screwing then plugging to blind screwing each slat from the back with a pocket screw bit for ease of use. Much better finished look and actually went faster and saved time.

Swing constructed from southern red cypress 2×4x8 dressed stock. Swing is 5’ 8” to center of eye lags.

Robert – you don’t know what good timing you have. I never gave a thought to using pocket screws to mount the slats that I was going to start on in 1/2 hour! Everything is cut out, router rounded and the first coat of paint to get where you cannot reach after assembly. Mine looks to be 3/4 of yours as mine is 5 foot. Mine will be a wedding gift for a lady I know. She bought all the fixin’s and I make it. But the pocket screws are a wonderful idea. It provides a nice clean appearance and will help protect it from our warm, wet weather here in Florida. Now I’ve got to go to the big box ‘cause I am low on the 1 1/4 inch screws I’ll need. Again thanks, timing is perfect.

Great looking build and a very good idea screwing on from the back.

The wood and finish are astonishing as well as the workmanship that went into it.
