I visited the Kokomo glass factory again while on vacation a few weeks ago. I like seeing the glass in person versus trying to pick it out on the internet. I picked up a few cool looking glass pieces.
I searched the Internet looking for patterns I could modify to use glass. I found a very poor image quality picture of a thin wood frame, with a semi-circular top…...with glass insert. I went to Google Sketchup and designed my own version of this clock.
I went with 1/2 thick wood frame. I made the bottom piece removable, to be able to install the glass.
This project was challenging for me. I had to learn to cut a semi-circular shape on top of the glass. I only have cut straight lines before. I also had to learn how to drill a 3/8” hole in the glass for the clock insert.
I am making 3 of these clocks for siblings for Christmas 2014 gifts. I got the first one done, and chose blue glass with a white clock dial.
If you interested in my trials & tribulations of building these clocks, and trust me there were several….....see my web site.
