Outdoor Cedar Table

New table for the deck just in time for Autumn. Here in Georgia this is the time we can actually enjoy the deck!

Table is made from cedar purchased at the local big box store. With the exception of the top all lumber was planed down to 3” by 3”. The top is 1.5” thick. I used the table as practice with timber framing joinery which, I will be using next year for a pergola. The legs are joined to the table with bridal joints. For the apron I used dovetail and dovetailed tenon joints. The bottom cross members are joined with shoulder mortise and tenon and pegged through tenon joints.

Looks like you had a lot of fun doing the joinery, isn’t it great when a plan comes together?

Beautiful build and great looking wood. I sure wish I could get hold of some cedar here.

Absolutely beautiful. I don’t know if most of your guests will appreciate the dovetail like we do. Well done.

Very nice table, really like the joinery. What big box did you get 1-1/2” cedar. I am in Dunwoody and neither the orange or blue carry 2x cedar. Norcross Supply carries a good selection.

Thanks for all the compliments! ChrisK, I bought the cedar at the orange store. Found the 2×6 and 4×4 stock in the decking section. DavidATX I used Thomson’s water seal with a Cedar tint.

That’s a great looking dining table! Sounds like you’ll get a lot of good use out of it!

Gorgeous table. I would be proud to have that inside my house, let alone out on the deck! Looks like it should last several lifetimes!
