I have put a few better pics of the box
I had some beautiful Fingered Maple to go with the Curly Cherry, to work with. I took a 1” piece of Curly Cherry to use as the center top. I cut 17 degree sides on it and wrapped it with Fingered Maple. As you can see I took the Curly Cherry and highlighted the top and bottom of the box with it. Beautiful grain in the Cherry and Maple.
I was very happy when all my 45’s lined up on the top. After my angles on the top, I had 3/16” of width left on the edge of the Cherry. I routed out a 3/16” on my sided and (wala), it fit together.
I have realized that Cherry is one of my favorite woods to work with. It is fairly solid and easy to work with. Maple is also something I like, so this jewelry box is right up there with one of my favorites that I’ve built.
Again, I put 9 coat of lacquer on it, waited 3 weeks for drying and polished it out to a mirror finish with 2000 and 4000 grit pads. Finishing with a 4000 grit polish, buffed out.

Larger pictures would allow us to see the “fingers” in the Maple, as well as the figure in the Cherry.
