We wanted a place for our dog to feel secure in the house, as well as a place to sleep. Dogs like dens.
This kennel has a removable lid so that it is easy to take out the blanket to wash it.
The frame is made from 2X2s and then faced with pallet wood, finished with a spray varnish.
Bandit just LOVES his kennel. We keep it in our bedroom so he can sleep with his “pack” without being in our bed.

My projects almost always use re-purposed wood of some sort. I mostly make use of waste from companies like a stair and railing company that does mostly custom work in high end homes so they often toss cut-offs from good hardwood as well as pallets. There is so much free wood to be had, which is good for me because I am out of work on long term disability.
