I made this mailbox for my brother and sister in law (Sandra and Danny). Its made from genuine mahogany and the “S & D” are inlaid walnut. The finish is general finishes exterior 450. We installed in last year, so its gone through one Canadian winter and so far everything is holding up really well except for the hinge. I had to replace it with a stainless steel one.
thanks for looking
marco

That’s one of the nicest looking mailboxes I’ve seen—nice work!

Really great work, Marco. What did you do for the box bottom? How is it attached? Thanks, Dan

Hey Dan,
sorry for the delayed response. The bottom is 1/2” mahogany rabbeted to fit in a 1/4” groove, up 1/4” from the bottom of all 4 sides.

Thanks Southpaw, 3/4” thickness for the sides. but if I were to make another one I’d probably go thinner.

Have your say...
