I wanted to build a writing style desk for my office. I also needed a place to store all my table saw accessory’s. I built this as the prototype to see if I could. It came out really nice I think. I built the main carcass out of MDF since that’s what I had avail in my bin. I made the face frame and trimed it out with pine. the top I just glued pieces of scrap wood together. the drawers are made of plywood. The next office indoor version I will use hardwoods. I have not picked anything out yet. any suggestions? Plus I needed to test out my new powermatic dust collector!

You did a great job and I am sure it will get a lot of use.

Use any wood you like. Just base it on where the desk may be used. Also, if it gong to be stained, painted, or left raw.

I find plywood easier to work with, more stable, cheaper, and usually more dimensionally accurate.

You can always trim with real wood or make the top out of it.
